Summary :
Responsible for the operation and management of a licensed home child care program with 15 staff, 160 caregivers and 600 children.






Qualifications:


· University degree and/or diploma in Early Childhood Education or other studies including child development from a recognized college or university.

· Minimum of 5 years experience in licensed care, extensive knowledge of home child care and of the Day Nursery Act.

· Minimum of 5 years supervisory and administrative experience.

· Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Familiarity with budgets.

· Extensive knowledge of community resources.

· Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal skills to support and represent a multi-disciplinary team.

· Ability to work under pressure and set priorities.

· Innovative and a committed team player.

· Knowledge of word processing skills compatible with current software industry as well as what is in use at AFCCS.

· Written and spoken French an asset.

· Current driver’s license and use of a car.




Duties:
· Supervises program staff: advises, reviews caseload and responsibilities and consults regularly with staff on family, provider and program issues and problems; assigns staff to Supervisor; co-ordinates ongoing provision of services through staff meetings, scheduling and assignment of duties; hires and dismisses staff; orients new staff; evaluates staff performance; ensures the quality of service provided.

· Communicates with current and prospective clients: receives, reviews and maintains applications for care; assigns applications to consultants; refers to other services or resource professionals as needed; responds to parental questions and concerns and investigates complaints; supports consultants in responding to emergencies.

· Communicates with current and prospective providers: receives, reviews and maintains applications to provide care; assigns applications to consultants; responds to provider questions and concerns and investigates complaints; supports or replaces consultant in responding to emergencies.

· Administers program documentation and budget: ensures accuracy of records on attendance, monthly billing and statistics; monitors budget; approves staff leave, overtime and expense claims; oversees petty cash; approves expenditure on program supplies; allocates resources according to approved plan and budget.

· Coordinates ongoing program planning: identifies staffing needs; evaluates program; prepares agenda and chairs monthly staff meetings; plans revisions or new services with staff, Executive Director and Board Program Planning Committee.

· Ensures D.N.A. requirements and health and safety standards are maintained: deals with Agency licensing by Province; oversees work of the Supervisor in all areas; consults with the Supervisor and staff to develop policies and practices for program staff and for use in provider homes.

· Participates on agency management team: updates E.D. regularly; liaises with related agency programs and staff; participates in management meetings, and board committees; represents agency in child care and inter-agency associations and at government meetings; responds to enquiries from the community including the media.

· Ensures staff remain current and knowledgeable: provides for appropriate training within agency and access to external professional development for staff; participates in professional development; plans/participates in provider training.

· Other related duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.
